Security has become a major day to day challenge in Nigeria. Communities are being sacked on a daily basis, kidnapping has almost become a norm, cultism by students and non students alike now holds sway, prostitution has become the order of the day and cases of stranded abroad returnees have exacerbated the situation.
No corner of Nigeria is safe any more as precious lives are being lost and the government seems helpless. This awkward situation has elicited discussions and in some cases the entrenchment of local Vigilante groups in the communities otherwise know as community policing. For Nigerian society to get out of this quagmire and sufficiently protect themselves, there is the need to have local vigilante that are well trained and empowered to protect the community as the conventional security agencies in Nigeria are already overwhelmed.
Monye Ehiwuogwu Lucky Foundation has shown commitment to this course by partnering with a foremost security company known as Monaco Guards to train local vigilante groups and grant them psychological supports to enable them do their job in the most efficient manner. Beyond training the vigilantes to be efficient, security trainings are also conducted for youths (male and female) and also abroad returnees to empower them to be knowledgeable and equally find security jobs that will make them to be self sufficient. At the end of every security training programme, which last for three weeks, certificates are given.
